A brooding portrait of Ludwig van Beethoven, his wild grey hair catching the light against a soft, muted background. Pavel Filin paints the composer with warm ochres and reds on the face, set against the deep blue coat and dark cravat, his intense gaze meeting the viewer head-on. The loose, confident brushwork of this original oil painting lends the figure a restless, almost stormy presence.
