A ballerina seen from behind, her dark hair pinned with a pale wreath, sits in a blue bodice and a full white tutu edged with cobalt trim. Pavel Filin lets warm light fall across her bare shoulders while the deep, shadowy backdrop keeps all attention on her poised, quiet figure. The loose, confident brushwork in the tulle gives this original oil painting a soft, almost breath-held mood.
