A seated woman in a red headwrap turns her gaze downward, her body drawn in quietly against a soft, muted background of grey and blue. Pavel Filin builds the figure with warm ochre and orange flesh tones set against loose green fabric, the thick, gestural brushwork of this original oil painting lending the pose a contemplative stillness. The play of light along her shoulder and arm gives the composition its intimacy.
