A young chimney sweep in a flat cap sits hunched with a cigarette, resting an arm on his bent knee while the tools of his trade hang against the wall behind him. Pavel Filin builds the figure from thick, confident palette-knife strokes, setting warm skin tones against a cool blue-and-grey haze that gives this original oil painting a quiet, contemplative mood.
